Rear brakes now rebuilt on the ZX, and much improved. There really are some herberts about though! On both sides there were bits missing from the adjusters, so I had to buy a replacement set. On the near side the thread has been mashed on stub axle (How???) I cleaned it up and the nut has torqued up OK (added copious amounts of thread lock as well), but I was wondering about changing the stub axle at some time. Haynes says "interference fit in trailing arm" and "tap out with a soft drift". I had a quick go at it this morning with a 1lb hammer - sounds pretty solid to me. So is this "tap":
a) a 1lb hammer as above wielded for longer
b) a 2 lb lump hammer wielded as if your life depended on it
c) a 14 lb sledge hammer applied two handed, following heating the trailing arm with an oxy-acetylene set till it's glowing [:D]
I think it's probably c) myself [^]
