Hoses confuse

Post by modi »

Hi, while I was checking the oil level today I noticed a hose coming out of the dipstick housing and going into another hose (connected to the air filter) is unplugged, it seems to be unplugged on purpose previously, is there any reason for that or is it just a mistake??

Crankcase ventilation. The only reason it would be purposely unplugged is if the car is generating too much positive crankcase pressure (worn piston rings) and is blowing the dip stick out of its tube (or filling the air filter with oil).

just to mention that it seems to be blowing lots of oil out of that hole (which the the hose should be connected to)

if you connect it up and the engine then pushes the dipstick out you will know why it was deliberately unplugged, connect it up take it for a drive and see what happens
