Xantia price in UK???

Post by czenda »

Hi, I am honestly confused about the prices mentioned here. Is it really possible to buy Xantia fot under 1k pounds in UK? They do not get below 2.5 - 3k EURO where I live. (This is rather theoretical question, really, as there is no use to buy a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car for those living in the 99% of the world :-)))).

Hi there
Yes you can buy a Xantia for a few hundred pounds here and one in good condition too. I paid just over £1000 for my `96 estate 1.8 .with 70000 miles on the clock, and sometimes I think that was too much!
I think you are slightly out with your 99% because if you include Japan,Australia ,India much of Africa etc you will be down to maybe 75% or less.

You could buy a early 1993/94 for as little as a few hundred pounds. But it would need a bit of work.94/95`s can be brought for about £500,road legal.Any model, but diesels hold their value more. There are loads of cars around for £500-£1000,in good condition.

I went in at the highest price point for a Xantia. Paid £4995 for my 2000, X-plate HDi 110 SX with 40,000 on the clock and fsh. Yes i know it'll lose value rapidly, but i was happy paying it and i'm well happy with my purchase.[:D]

All very true. There are real bargains out there. I paid £1200 2 years ago for a 2.016v sx in perfect condition, 58k, FSH, new MOT and tax. Brilliant car at a ridiculous price.

My four year old HDi Xantia cost me £3500 from a main dealer.
It had done 36000 miles.
I recently was looking to replace the ZX and one of the cars I considered was a 1.9TD Xantia with 98000 miles on a N plate (1995) which was up for £650
In the end I bought a lemon, sorry meant Diesel AX for £500 on a P plate (1996) with 60000 miles.
Big HP Citroens dont hold their value in the UK because of the popular notion that they frequently and expensivly break. Wonder where "most people" got that idea from?Image

I think the best deal I ever had was a 1999 Hdi 110bhp Xantia sx great car lots of power the newest car i've ever owned paid £2500 for it in august but unfortunately my partner was involved in a shunt befor Xmas and the car was a right off. However best bit no one hurt and the insurance paid out £3650 less £100 excess so net profit £1050 best profit ever had on a car and didn't even have any intention of getting rid of it

I'm interested to see £165 quoted for a clutch change. Lowest I have been quoted is £277 for my '94 1.9TD :-(

£320 for my immaculate 1997 1.9td LX Aircon Xantia 170K but full Main Dealer service history. I had to drop a 2nd hand gearbox in for £50(jumped out of 5th gear very occasionaly) so really £370 for a car that drives like new with a mint interior/exterior. I'm happy!!

you can't count italy in that 99% because they drive in the middle, turkey drives on both sides and many arabic countries drive both sides depending on which way they want to go when they leave their houses.
