It is coming on for it. 48000 is a safe interval. Some places do it for around 50 quid but you can pay a good deal more. Can't help you with car value. Too many variables!

Welcome to the forum.Cambelt change every 72k miles, although recomended every 36k.Its done 42k miles since the change,so would be worth doing for peace of mind.I paid £145 all in 2 yrs ago for the change at Puegeot main dealer.Citroen wanted £375 ish!!!The belt is only about £15,but depends how good your diy skills are.Not a job a fancy doing.Budget about £150-£200 i`d say to get a garage to do it.
What model is the car?

£800 doesn`t sound bad to me here in Bristol. All the estates i`ve seen are £1000+.
I got mine 3 yrs ago with 105k miles on it,with history up till 55k,now got 142k miles on it.

Not really.Replaced the rad, battery, front brakes, had the a/c re-gassed,droplinks,& a few tyres. All wear & tear items. The only trouble was when the rear suspension played up.Had to have a new rear h/corrector & accumalator sphere.Apart from that one,its still on the same spheres as when i got it.Theres 8 on mine.I service it myself every 5k miles, use a good oil & Citroen filter.Been 100% relible(?)Had the power boosted to 115 bhp,as it didn`t pull our caravan very well.Still does an average of 40mpg.
A little tip for you.Pull the carpet up in the load bay.Ifs its wet,or under the rear seats are wet, dont worry. Its only the plastic membrain inside the tail gate.Easy to reseal, loads about it on the forum. Also in the front passenger footwell, under the carpet. The water can leak in the bottom of the windscreen where the black plastic panel is.Might give you a bit of barganing power though![:D]

well well, i got my xantia 3 months ago and had no idea what so ever about citroen cars, apart from the privilage of driving a friend's bx in Geneva for 5 days last year which was magical, i got it with long mot and short tax, 70k on the clock, for £550, bargain i thought, but since then i spent around £300 between abs repairs, clutch cable, new tyres, tracking, changing oil and filters, and after getting addicted to this website, i found out that i have to change the cambelt -as i have no idea when was changes if it was- front brake disks and rear spheres.. i am just asking doe it worth doing all that?? i have no idea what this car worth ..
