Xantia HDi wiring

Post by johnny »

2000 MY (W reg) Xantia HDi continually blowing fuse 12 (passenger compartment fusebox).
Fuse 12 covers instruments, brake lights, reversing lights & air con according to haynes book of lies)Reversing lights still working.
Seems like direct short somewhere.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Connect an ammeter across the 2 terminals.
Turn on ignition, then turn on and off each circuit that is powered from F12.
One or more of the circuits will show a full deflection indicating a fault in that circuit.
Come back if you need more help.

Thanks for your suggestion Bernie.
However fuse is blowing as soon as I switch on the ignition this to me leaves out problems with brake or reversing lights or air con as none of these are switched on.
Therefore pointing to instrument panel problems.
Would you agree with this?

According to my data, the HDi fuse 12 is for the AC master switch and the AC control module. Other Xantia models use the fuse for the AC compressor clutch relay. It should be a 20 amp fuse and if the fuse layout looks like the one in the picture then there is probably an element of truth in it. If so, it is most likely an AC problem.
