Xantia estate boot lock

Post by user_3150 »

Basically it doesn't always lock. When I press the remote it makes a faint noise then anything from 1 to 5 unlock - locks it makes a clunk sound on the unlock then locks o.k with another clunk. It always unlocks o.k. Any ideas guys?

Have a look at the connections - the 'lock' one could be corroded. Check the voltage carefully, if low have a look at the controller unit (by handbrake?) - try searching on here - I think the controllers get wet and corrode etc.

The solenoid locking mechanism acts on the back of the boot lock. I have found that if the lock gets stiff through lack of use then the remote locking does not always work correctly. This happens on the 2 front doors as well. I have also found that a small squirt of WD40 on and in the lock mechanism followed by locking and unlocking with the key a few times works wonders.
Do not use too much WD40 as the solvent will melt the goo sealing the plastic membrane to the boot door if it gets that far before evaporating!
