Xantia CD Problem

Post by Huwbruin »

I have a 97 Xantia TDSX which has the CD compatible radio cassette.
I tried to fit a Kenwood CD autochanger which I already had.
The connecting cable was originally used to connect the 'changer to a Kenwood head unit but the connections seem correct for the Xantia unit. The changer was working well when removed from its previous home and the radio works well in all other functions.
The problem is that after connection, the radio just displays "connect" in CD mode and will not recognise that the unit is connected.
The handbook doesn't offer any guidance - does anyone have any tips?

Is the Radio a Clarion? if it is I suspect a Kenwood changer might not be compatable even if the connectors appear the same, Why would different manufacturers do something usefull, like keeping all the connectors to one standard!

I think the only CD compatible radio fitted to the Mk 1 Xantia was the Blaupunkt '4030'. This needs a Blaupunkt CD changer, and a Citroen adapter lead.

Thanks chaps
The car is a series 2 but I think the standard unit is still a Clarion. I guess this means a Kenwood CD changer is still not compatible....
Guess I'm going to need the adaptor leads to fit the old Kenwood head unit into the car!
