Advice please,I need to do an oil/filter change (Xan 19td 122k unknown sh).Will use 10/40 semi oil ,will the engine benefit[?]from a flush as well?What does it do[?]

Cleans out all the gunk that's sitting in oil ways etc. Personaly I'd not bother. Your engines just about run in with that 122K on the clock. Even if you do give it a clean the oil will still turn black almost straight away. Nature of a diesel.

You dont flush the engine's oil system. Modern engine oils have very powerful cleaning properties.
If you're really keen - you may change the oil & filter once again after 3Kmiles.
Make sure the engine oil you're using are specified for turbo diesel engines.
The engine may however benefit from a cooling system flush - may even save your HG [^]

Will use total Q7000 as in gsf .Unless anybody has any better sugestions[?]

Anders is right. I never use a flushing agent but on a newly purchased vehicle with dirty oil I will often use a 10/40 semi-syn and only leave it in for a few hundred miles before draining off again.

i was always told not to use flushing oil in cars with a lot of miles on the clock, better to just change the oil more frequently.

Agreed, it's a bit like using hyrdaflush, it'll wash all the gunk out into the places where you dont want it. Regular changes are the best bet.
