hi guys, am looking for some advice, have just bought xantia 1.9 td vsx 1994 for £100, only problem is timing belt has either slipped or come of as the belt is intact but is hanging off timing pulleys havnt removed head yet but Iknow there is valve damage would you guys either replace head or swop engine the car has done 130k any advice greatfully recieved

I'd go in and have a look what has transpired before deciding on a fresh lump, might not be too bad if you are lucky.
Feel the top of the bore's for any apprechiable lip, if there is enough to grab your finger nail I'd scrap it.
Last head I had off had 90000 on it, there was no real detectable lip just a soot line.
