xantia solenoids

Post by fordsone27n »

Fixed to the bulkhead of my TD xantia between the LHM reservoir and the engine are two solenoid valves which control vacuum to various places. The LHS pipework goes to a diaphram and cable which I assume either does fast idle or excess fuel for starting. The other, RHS one has a pipe missing. What is the function of it?
Thanks
Adrian

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Tends to improve economy, and less gunking of the inlet tract if it is disconnected, at the expense of slightly higher NOX emissions. No MOT requirement, so down to your conscience as to whether you reconnect it or not!!
