A similar thing happened near us.
A neighbour called out a fire engine (only a chimney fire), which managed to fall into the deep ditch at the side of our narrow lane. The fire brigade brought out their heavy lifting vehicle to recover it. Just as the engine was hanging in mid-air, one of the lifting vehicle's struts broke, and the whole lot went into the ditch. A second and larger vehicle was brought in, which eventually recovered them both, after some roadside welding. Provided a whole night's entertainment - nobody hurt, and the fire went out of its own accord.
