4 to 5 gears?

I was wondering if changing from a 4 speed box to a 5 speed is just a simple swap? I have a '93 ax debut (1 litre) and use it on the motorway often wanting to change into 5th to stop her screaming!
obviously Im thinking different models have various ratios so which would be most suited to the 1litre. Did citroen ever offer a 5 speed for this engine? I know my friend's saxo has 5 gears, im sooo jealous!

You should be able to fit the 5 speeder from an AX 1.1 without modification, the clutch, cable etc are the same, you may have to use the gear link rods from the 1.1. Should all be straightforward stuff.

should be straighforward enough but i think the MK1 & 2 have different mounts .....
