ZX Remote Central Locking Plip

I was wondering, is it possible to get a second hand plip for the zx eg from a scrap car, and re program it to work with my car without changing the sensor (so id have 2 plips, one as a spare)? I read on ebay earlier (for a 306)
"The reprogramming is a simple procedure.
1. Turn on the ignition
2. Within 10 seconds hold the original plip pointed at the sensor, about 8" away from it and press either button
3. Within a further 10 seconds do the same for the new plip. (you see you need a spare key - or remove the blade)
4. Turn off the ignition and test plip."
However this is for a 306, and for a new plip. Does it work on a ZX, with a second hand plip?

I have been wondering whether one could program a TV remote to operate the ZX plip using the code that is on the plip sensor?[?]
