Keypad work around

Post by Sico »

Hello,
I have been visiting this forum for a while now, and it seems i am in good company!.
A couple of months ago both led's on the keypad lit up, and the car
did not start. Cleaning the connector in the front wing fixed this,
but i always like to have somekind of backup.
So when i read the topic about the keypad work around i was very
interested.
If someone would mail me this info, it would make me very happy!.

If the kepad is working you can disable it by changing the code to 1111 or 0000 (not sure which).

That trick doesn't seem to work on later models, with mine the only way I can disable the keypad is by disconnecting it.

Hi
Ive tried the keypad work around on my 1995 Pug 405 1998cc & it didnt work.
Also 1111 & 0000 wont stop mine auto arming either.
My keypad works fine, Im just trying out the ways to beat it to see if they really work.
When talking keypads remember there are 2 kinds, The early keypad with the "D/N" button & the later kind with the "S" button & they are different.
The later kind is more secure & will lock you out for 30 minutes if you enter 3 wrong codes in a row, while the early ones wouldnt.
I think the keypad is a good idea that shouldnt have been dropped, If someone nicks your keys they cant start the car ( Unless your dumb enough to set the code to 1111 or 1234 or setting the auto unlocking feature with the remote key ) Because whats the first two codes everybody tries??? lol

I had my keypad disconnected at one point, but decided to reconnect it after there were a number of thefts and attempted thefts of cars near me. If they'll try and take my neighbours battered L reg Maestro (tried 4 times, 3 times the battery was flat!) they'll take anything.
As you say, it has the advantage over other immobilisers in that someone taking your keys still can't start the car.
