Re: Ride quality...is it my imagination....
The Somerset "Levels" is the same.....massive undulations in the roads, I cannot think of another car that can/could traverse it quicker and in more comfort.

One of my favourite roads, from Crianlarich and Tyndrum, and heading out towards Glencoe!lexi wrote:If anyone is familiar with the Rannoch Moor road, built on peat, that is where hydractive is at its best.
It's on the way to Fort William, where our September's North Coast 500 run starts.

I was about to mention the same road!
Very very undulating, it certainly gives the Hydractive 2 a workout. That is one road I would NOT want to be driving on the stiff and fairly basic suspension on my Ion - I think it would be a challenge to keep the car on the road!

About hitting the "Submit" button unintentionally, I had bigger worries about the length of the posting fearing that the large number of words put readers off. Thank you guys for showing me that it is not a worry.

Experiencing it will worth a thousand words. Maps show they are in Scotland. Any suggestion down South in England?

Re: Ride quality...is it my imagination....
Lengthy posts are most welcome IMO especially when they contain interesting facts/specs like the above. Not sure the better half would agree though given the amount of time I lose to reading on this forum haha
Not sure about down south so much, but there's some great & very testing roads around the peaks of Cheshire and Derbyshire. The A537 and surrounding roads are a popular route for challenging both driver/rider and vehicle. Sadly a lot of it is now subject to a 50mph limit enforced by average speed cameras, but in fairness averaging 50 is plenty for a lot of it!
Also the road towards Sheffield is a half decent route of which I can't remember the name. Wrynose pass?

Struggling to think of one in the South (apart from some pretty grim sections of the M25), but I did find this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph- ... rive/31057
and this from Continental Tyres and the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/4683276.stm .
Just remembered, there's the section of the A281 (Guildford to Horsham road), between Rudgwick and the Clemsfold roundabout (jct with A29). I used to live in Bucks Green, and travelled the road daily - a real switchback at the Rudgwick end for about a mile.
Couple more, but first one is Scotland again (Isle of Arran):

That is either the String road or Ross road Chris?. I have cycled motored and motorbiked Arran for so many years.
Last trip was about 4 years ago in the Series 2. Man!...............my shockers were foaming going round the Island for 2 weeks. What a hoot to drive a Series at 55mph on those roads. It is on the limit really, so quite exciting!

That Arran road is the A841 between Sannox and Lochranza, Neil, heading north.

Re: Ride quality...is it my imagination....
So, if someone is willing to change all the Spheres on a C5 II 3.0 sedan what Spheres should he get so that while using normal suspension mode the car rides very comfortable, and while in sport mode it will be firm as before while in sport mode? Is that possible? Thanks.

Re: Ride quality...is it my imagination....
Centre spheres are crucial on any hydractive citroen. If you fitted softer corner spheres you'd have a softer ride in sports and a very very soft ride in normal! But a decently sorted hydractive car should be comfortable enough as long as everythings working right.

Re: Ride quality...is it my imagination....
It's a good idea to stick to the factory spec for spheres on Hydractive systems. If the system is working properly, and every sphere is up to (gas) pressure, then the ride should be top notch.

Yes, stick to the originals, and personally, I would choose original Citroën spheres as they are likely to last a lot longer than alternative suppliers who we understand don't use the same quality membranes as the Genuine Citroën spheres.
