HELP !! Citroen tools

Post by 2cy »

Next month (middle of March) I plan to drive down to Slovenia to work (start recommissioning) my recently acquired Ami-Super. 42 years old and 30k miles (on the clock) this car is (mechanically) original with the G10 Citroen GS motor and 1220 gearbox / disc brakes. I'll start by replacing the cam-belts and servicing the motor, before progressive working through the whole car ; replacing old n' dry grease with new. I've bought new brake pads, callipers and wheel cylinders, so I'll check and fit those as required. I'll also run through the ignition & electrics, etc. as well going around the body panels, body shell & chassis ..to treat her to a little TLC and paint

I'll be working like a mobile mechanic, from the back of my van (Chrysler Voyager), so I've made a list of garage tools and equipment I'll probably need - but at the moment I don't have any . Citroen-specific tools. #-o

Can anyone advise what I'll need ? and what I can make do without. And as importantly where I might get / borrow them from ? or else dimensioned sketches if I can quickly make them. [-o<

Big thank you. Pete

A three quarter breaker bar and extension (long tube) along with the appropriate sized socket to remove the crankshaft fan (35mm? I should know!). Jacks and axle stands. Other than that I doubt there's much out the ordinary - unless you want to take the rear drums off (drums on a Ami Super?), then you'll want that 44mm three quarter socket. Electric rattle gun maybe? What's the Slovenic Voltage? Drill to drill out peenings.

Items like Jacks etc, if you do not already have them can often be purchased locally a lot cheaper than in the UK....just a thought

"There's a tiny house . . . . by a tiny stream . . ."

I remember that from my childhood - awful song! I thought they were singing: "Captain and a bosun by the se-e-e-e-e . . ." Ugh - what was that about?

Gawd help'us - it ain't dead! :yikes:

Blame me - it was Steve's "location" that sparked that off!

An 'age' thing.
