Isn't it gorgeous Jim. Yes I'd be off like a shot.
Whenever he has a few days he loads the Kia to the roof (in the pic) drives to the north coast of Scotland catches two ferries, has a few hours kip and starts work! As it's not quite habitable yet he has a tent inside that he beds down in and when the wind blows in from the sea he said it gets very spooky at night.

I'd go in a heartbeat. One of my most memorable holidays was to Nordkapp right at the northern tip of Norway.

Perhaps Davie and I should offer some One Way Tickets for the North 500 run.
Did we miss a trick there?

We could easily add in a day trip to the orkeneys, boat leaves John O Groats at 10am I think. I will look it up later, I do have the leaflet at home about it.

I once found a semi-derelict (I would say abandoned, but it was being used as a buoy store) house on Lewis (well, it might've been Harris). Curiously, it was a typical '30's suburban house, not a style I like (& I live in one) but this one was so incongruous as to be bordering on the surrreal - & I've wanted to acquire it, restore it & hide out there ever since; sadly I've never even been able to find it again. I think that was the seed of my idea of disappearing off to a Scottish island - when I can no longer travel.
On balance I prefer the Hebrides to the Shetlands &, somehow, the Orkneys have always passed me by (no, that's silly - must be t'other way about) but onen day . . .

Yes, welcome back. I did notice that Scotland had been 'enjoying' its own bit of weather recently.

It has been very wet lately. Its a bit grey and overcast today, been wet overnight, and at a guess the temperature is about 16°. No need for aircon here, almost need the heating on!

This is growing ever closer now. Im using the 205 for it this time. Its all serviced, and will have the gearbox oil changed before then, and probably changed again after it. It still has the back bumper and valance to get removed to paint them the same as the front, and see if there is any rust to treat behind it. However I have quite a list of jobs to work through, the gearbox oil change quite high on the list, the cosmetic work is very low, so may not be done by then.

Chris and I are doing it even if it is just the two of us, but I am still hoping there are one or two of the maybes going to change to yes in the next few weeks.
