Re: North Coast 500
Now there's a challenge for me
I do intend to ride some of it and will have one of my bikes in the back of the car...
Don't think I'll quite match Mark's achievement though... What he did there really was quite incredible!
Much as I'd like to...

Re: North Coast 500
I'm reading up a lot about it just now. I see there is the French trip that a few are thinking of doing in early June next year. That's when I thought about this, but that may be too much to do all about the same time, so I'm now thinking September. And instead of rushing round in a couple of days, possibly meet on a Saturday, then aim for around 100 miles or so a day, leaves plenty of time for sight seeing and exploring. I have already suggested going up the funicular railway at aanoch mor beside fort william, I would also like to take the ferry/minibus to Cape Wrath while at durness right up on the north west corner. What do folk think of that?

Re: North Coast 500
You should leave some slack time for exploring, sightseeing, and just enjoying the locality. Also essential just to chill for a while, and recharge the soul up there.
For those who have never experienced the Western Highlands, I can guarantee you will never be quite the same person again. It's that good.

There's potentially going to be a joint CCC Scottish Section and C6Owners meet in the central belt of Scotland next September at some point too.
Don't have any other details yet though unfortunately.

Be good to meet up with them at some point. Can it be arranged?

It's likely to be a weekend, Davie. There's a day exhibiting cars on the granite stand at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow followed by a Sunday at the Falkirk Wheel.

Re: North Coast 500
It would be good if we could somehow combine the two. If we knew the dates of the the meet that weekend I'm sure that could start/finish this proposed run.

I'll see what I can do. The idea was mentioned a month or two back and was discussed at the concrete camping weekend last week. I'll have a chat with Steve, Bill and Susie and see what we can decide.

If you guys can come up with a date, this can be made to fit in with it no problem.DHallworth wrote:I'll see what I can do. The idea was mentioned a month or two back and was discussed at the concrete camping weekend last week. I'll have a chat with Steve, Bill and Susie and see what we can decide.

Re: North Coast 500
Has huge appeal but I usually do Scotland, in the Jeep, later in the year & I all my holiday for next year is spoken for.
As for the distance, I've done S. London to Aberdeen in a day - in the 2CV - nae problem!

Re: North Coast 500
To be honest I quite like the idea of a tour, I have never been round that part of Scotland, so the idea is appealing, though whether I can get the time off is another matter, and dragging the caravan is no problem, plenty of room for a bike or twoDHallworth wrote:I'll see what I can do.
