Its an offer for anyone to take up. For me this will be as much about the friendship and company as it will be about the cars and driving, although its the common love of cars, and french cars in particular that has brought it together

I couldn't agree more and I'd take you up in an instant if it weren't for doggy logistics.
As things are I know nobody down here so he has to come with or go to North Wales, probably the latter as given his arthritic condition I doubt a road trip like this would be fun for him anymore. Quite sad as he loves cars and has done 1000s of miles co driving Xantiae with me.
I do like your thinking and will try to fill my spare seats with like minded people if I make it.

You have to think about Kelvin James. Hes had a tough time and needs tlc. I had my daughters dog for the weekend. Hes a border collie, and the arthritis is setting in with him too. You can see him limping now and wincing at times, and he doesnt come up unto the sofa or the bed now like he used to. It must be hard for him as he was such an active fella, he loved his long walks out the country.

Heres a pic of the millionairs view, dont think the last one worked as i planned.
Also a pic of Dunrobin Castle. This is well worth visiting on the way south on the A9 just north of Golspie.ImageImage

The Route has been edited today to include three more en-route attractions:
- the 'new' northern Applecross coastal road, from Applecross to Shieldaig
- the Old Man of Stoer seastack, on the Lochinver peninsula
- the estuary-side old A9 through Bonar Bridge and via the Millionaire's Viewpoint

Maps above and mileages have been amended.

Roll up, roll up . . . \:D/

That's been photoshopped - there's no caravans / Motorhomes / HGVs / half wits driving slowly!!

I can recommend dinner at the Glennfinnan House hotel, on the edge of the loch just past the monument.

We did almost exactly that route in Sep 2007 - great fun. Really odd when you get to Inverness, and it's BUSY by comparison to the small deserted roads in the NW.

I can't make all of it, but the 2nd weekend is a possibility.

Yes, not often you see it looking quite like that, Richard! Have, a couple of times, been unable to resist a bit of cobweb shifting on that bit of road . . . but no way to appreciate the Moor!

If you can do part of the Route with us, that would be excellent. After Davie has done his route reccy, we'll know pretty well definite route and day details.

The tour is now posted on Club-XM's site, with an invitation from us there.

Agreed :D I shall definitely watch and enjoy that! Whilst I can no longer travel for real I can travel virtually and now that's what I'm doing...

I go all over the place now like that ;) Not as good as the real thing but enjoyable none the less...

Thanks for posting the link Davie :)

I will have to buy a dash cam and take some footage of my own. My daughter is going to be induced to have her baby this weekend if she doesnt start herself, and i have a procedure in hospital on Monday, so I am intending having a blast round in bigpug in the next few weeks. I expect it will be lilpug in September.

Having just come back down from there, I agree with the young lady.
It must be one of the most picturesque routes in the world but I'm slightly biased as my mum is MacKay and that is where they come from.
I'm returning in late August with my parents to Golspie on the east coast side of the route.
Can I suggest a place to visit, it's called Badbea or in English the village on the cliff. travelling south its a couple of miles south of Berridale braes on the left hand side. There are some small signposts indicating the village and there is a small carpark. It is an eye opener for anybody interested in the highland clearances.

Chris and Davie are doing some work on this. I was up all that way last week as I am most weeks. It is why I am not going as I do this every week. The Big Lochs are where I spend the lighter months. Going to fish and camp out on Loch Lomond this week, then Loch Awe after that.
