The CXM Rally is no more, arise the...

Post by CitroJim »

At the National it was decided that the scope of the CXM/G rally to be held at Little Horwood between the 2nd and 4th September will be extended to embrace the Xantia fully and properly. This is excellent news :D

It will therefore be henceforth known as the CX, XM and Xantia Rally and this year will also include the G Section :D

There will be a few minor changes from last year and all of them very positive. Two new trophies will be awarded: The Best Xantia in show and a very special one, The Roger Bradford Memorial Trophy. This will be awarded to the one car at the rally that Roger would have chosen as his favourite; the one he would have exclaimed "Good God!" to on first sight as he was apt to do... I'm sure he will extend a guiding hand from the CX Centre in the sky to whoever is the judge for this award  It will not be limited to CXs though; any car at the rally that would have had Roger bubbling over will be eligible.

For my sins, and being local, I have the unenviable task of organising the convoy drive

That is indeed good news and a suitable tribute to Roger, sorely missed.

Perhaps we will know where we are going this year then :?:

At least I did the decent thing and sold that Activa to Jim, I haven't taken my VSX to a show for over two years now just to give others a bite of the cherry, a pity others don't have the same sense of fair play

Sounds very good, it is about time the Xantia had its own part of an event.

I shall be there in mine and my dad in the XM, hopefully there will be a good turnout. :)

Yes, this was all decided today in the committee meeting and because Jim wandered into the marquee eating his Cheese Burger, he became a committee member!

This year it will be a BIG one!

Costs have been revised too as even more of an incentive for people to come.
£5 for the whole weekend and FREE CAMPING.

Breakfast available on Sat and Sun Mornings
Dinner in the Pub Sat Evening.
5 Trophies being awarded this year.

:D :D

catering arrangements will include a ready supply of pickled eggs Robert....

Phil, BXs are very, very, very welcome of course. In fact I've just realised that the BX does not have its own rally...

Maybe we should have thought of calling it the Citroen XXX Rally...

Although that might have unfortunate connotations to some. Even calling it the XXXX Rally might indicate that it might be alcoholic in nature....

Thinking on, really it is a rally for the X Series but then again calling it just the Citroen X Rally makes it sound somewhat disturbing, mysterious and something of an unknown quantity...

That'll work for the convoy drive though. We don't know the destination, we don't know how to get there but we'll know when we do.

And that's precisely where the convoy drive planning is at this moment

Who says I'd be coming in the BX?...

You're right though, it's time we had a BX rally too, maybe make it for a Spring weekend, 2012... I'll have a word with Tim.
