Newbie saying hello!

Hi there,

Just a quick hello to other forum members. As my eldest was wanting to learn to drive - I decided to get shot of my estate car and get a more practical hatchback. Decided that a C4 would tick most of the boxes and stumbled across a C4 Loeb (no 73). 08, only 57k and a couple of owners all for under £2k so snapped it up :-D. The only down side is minimal history so oil, filters and plugs change due shortly.

Thanks Peter. I wasn't sure how the link would work tbh and I was a bit confused on the FAQ that I couldn't upload from my own computer?? It's the 1.6 (110) and actually is fairly nippy and despite it's appearance easily sits 4 x adults and we can even get the dog in the boot! We looked at the 2nd generation Renault Megane and despite it's boxy appearance the C4 coupe is the roomier. I did a bit of research on the C4 and the trade reviews were indifferent at best but the owner reviews rated them highly that convinced me that it was the right choice.

The 1.6 engine is very economical but does merit some special attention. They need much more frequent oil changes than specified or sludge build up can cause the turbo to fail so I would have an oil and filter change as soon as you get it and change it at about 6000 mile intervals. There is also a filter in the turbo oil feed which is best removed as that clogs and makes matters worse.

Providing that is done it should give you good service.

I may be wrong Peter but I think the c4 leob is a 1.6 petrol. The only one I have ever seen is petrol.

Welcome Gman2. I was the lucky owner of a c4 coupe vts a few years ago. In some respects I wish I still had it, but I had a back injury which made it near impossible to get in and out of it. It was the 2.0 180bhp petrol. Very rapid and 100% reliable in my care. The leob is nicer than the bra in my opinion due to the red inserts in the seats. Mine were the same 1/2 leather but all black in a black car. I love the red, and if I were to pick one again I think I would look for a red one. Lovely and very underated card.

Ah, he did say 1.6 110 hp so I assumed it was a diesel. I haven't run a petrol for such a long time I forgot they existed.

I think the petrol is 110 bhp also. Still a nice car whatever is under the bonnet! [emoji4]

Cheers peeps :) Can someone enlighten me how to post pics up please?? The 180bhp is very rare and according to the DVLA there are only 4 left on the road in the UK

There is a guide here - be aware that Photobucket has been rather erratic lately, possible victim of the infamous DDOS attacks.

I put my photos on from the phone via tapatalk with absolutely no mucking about. I can't believe there is only 4 180hp ones left. Is that the vts or the Leob? If it's the vts I saw my old one for sale recently. It's time I bought it back, cos it was a good one, 3 years ago, it could be a wreck now!

According to the DVLA stats only 5 Leob's were registered in the first place so an 80% survival rate is not too bad  :

I wouldn't trust that too much, twice it's told me I have the only one left of cars I've owned. Weird as I know the owner of an exact duplicate of one of them.

  1. Welcome, if you ask a question and I am sure someone on here will have the answer
  • Looks a nice car
  • Hope your eldest likes it, I learned to drive in a Mk1 Escort, Datsun Sunny or an Austin 1300!, none as flash as the C4 Coupe
:?
  • I had one for about 6 months, wifey did not like having to find big parking bays so she could get out, other than that she loved it

Hi and welcome.
Interesting that a hatch is considered more practical than an estate?! :-)
