As a temporary fix for the heater matrix, add a bottle of Forte Cooling System Stop Leak.

Forte products can be difficult to buy over the counter but are generally available on eBay.

Don't be tempted by other, cheaper products (Barrs, K-Seal) as they are prone to produce more problems than they fix.

These are the same type of light bulbs that I got from Unipart;

I would make sure to get at least 40 bulbs in total. However, I don't have any of the ones used in the heater controls, but I do know there are 2 there, with a very short cap.

I've said I'm never doing another Xantia heater matrix ever again :lol: I'd said that several times now though... :roll:

That certainly doesn’t preclude a get-together though... That would be good. We may even be able to get you to meet up with the whole to Team WFA :-D

That might be an experience :wink:

Becoming less convinced it's the matrix, there's a definite smell of coolant from time to time, but no visible staining in the footwells, not sure if it's actually a small leak in the engine bay that I'm just smelling. Need to clean under there before I can really see anything though!

Heater blower is definitely stuffed though...that at least is a five minute change!

Blowers are a subject all on their own in a Xantia :roll:

Have a look at this for everything you ever needed to know about sorting out a duff blower :)

Yep, read that one and went into the fault finding armed with that knowledge. Seems the brushes in this motor are sticking as a whack with the end of a screwdriver will start it (will keep going until stopped then), but the bearings sound like they are pretty well shot too.

That's an offer I'll certainly take you up on, especially as you're just up the road from here. Will drop you a PM to arrange.

Cheers CitroJim, my heater now works on the value it is set to rather than wandering all over the place and making horrible noises.

Nice to meet you today!
