Hello all from South Yorkshire

Post by Muppetboy »

Hello all. I'm happily married with five kids, three cats and a dog. Spent the first 35 years being an "Essex Boy" and now live in South Yorkshire - best move ever!

On to cars: Always loved Citroen cars ever since my old man (RIP) had his BX19 GTi 16v which was left to me when he passed away. The local kids used to love watching the suspension rise! However, it wasn't cheap to run so eventually sold it. My next three cars were two Saxo's (first and second models). First one was green and what a baaaad mistake it was having that colour. Second was Poseidon Blue. Very popular colour back then. Both were excellent runners. Next up was the C3, in red. (All aforementioned cars were manual)

As the family grew bigger, I needed a bigger car rather quickly so went for the Vauxhall Zirfira (1,6ltr manual). What a mistake that was. By the time I got rid of it I could swear every nut and bolt was loose! Went back to Citroen with the Grand Picasso in gold (manual). After that, I decided to give Ford another go (my dad had the Ford Cortina Estate back in the day and was extremely reliable) and went for the Galaxy Titanium 2ltr automatic. Massive MPV with plenty of leg-room and boot space. Had a few problems with it though - brake lights kept failing. Brake pads needed replacing after a year and a half and I'm not even a heavy braker!

Now I'm back to Citroen with the new C4 Grand Picasso Exclusive+. What a car and how many gadgets?? Admittedly I like gadgets and it didn't take long to get used to all the controls and touch screen. I do a fair bit of mileage sometimes and Cruise Control is a breeze to use. Only experienced one major issue two weeks in from getting it; the main panel (top screen) went and no-one at my local Citroen garage knew what had caused it. Long story short, a new panel had to be ordered in from France. Took nearly two weeks to arrive but an hour to fit.

Off to browse the forum some more.... :)

Excellent :-D Welcome Muppetboy but I'm sure you're far from being a Muppet. Your taste in cars proves that!

Thanks for the welcome, CitroJim!

And lol, nope, I'm far from being a muppet. In fact, I can't even recall where muppetboy originated from. I know on other sites I've tended to use Kermit as an avatar (which I will do on this site eventually when I can find it among the 100's of pictures on my PC) so maybe it's that.

Website is informative and easy to navigate but that's probably because I've used phpBB before on a website/forum I setup/administrated a few years back (plus I was a moderator at phpBB website).
