Evening...

...and greetings from Anglesey :)

I'm a rather big fan of the XUD engine, and after searching in vain for a decent-but-affordable 405 estate, I've just taken ownership of a '96 Xantia TD instead. I've always been scared stiff at the prospect of owning a Citroen with 'that' suspension, but I think the driving experience might just make up for the horror of potential problems

I shall be posting a large number of very stupid questions, so apologies in advance

They're really not that scary. I've had plenty. Never had a suspension problem other than flat spheres on any of the "normal" ones I've owned. You'll be fine with a TD. Welcome..

Welcome :-D

And as Mike says, no worries at all.. In fact you're lucky in being near to Paul (citroenxm) who knows all Xantias inside-out. Any issues you have and he's your man!

Welcome to the forum, mrduke. Once you get used to it, you will love the suspension (as will anybody with aches or pains).

As it says in my signature, there are no such things as stupid questions, but stupid mistakes do exist. If you are not sure ask. If the answer doesn't make sense, ask for clarification. This is (very definitely) a friendly forum, and the members will try to help (well, we want to keep all the citroens we can running!).

...and don't be surprised if answers don't make sense at first. These cars can be quite illogical, yet amazingly at the same time..

The answers aren't normally stupid, but illogical in the same way Citoens (and those who own them) are.
