Hi all I am looking at purchasing a DS super 5 always wanted one there is a project on eBay that's recently ran out of mot and needs minor recommissioning to get back on the road so thought I would sign up get some advise and see if anyone else has one or has had one this one I have been to see and is a good start firstly as the seller doesn't want thousands which I can't afford and secondly I don't think it will need a lot for an mot speak to you all soon !

Welcome, but beware of the fun police (not so much here as the Dee fraternity overall, meaning people who don't want yout to be happy with your car if the jack stand is the wrong colour etc) and hidden flaws.

It's easy to play swapsies on Dees, to the point where many sold ostensibly as Pallas level cars started out as DSuper or DSpécial vehicles.

The thing to take into account with running and especially restoring a DS is cost, from my experience everything you buy is in multiples of £250, one original Michelin tyre = £250, four interior or exterior door handles = £250 a set, two rear lights = £250, I could go on for ages like this so be prepared to need deep pockets :(

If the car you are thinking of is the blue one I'd certainly need to take a very close look at that one before I placed a bid as it looks to have something DS's are very good at as in tin worm and as I can see quite a lot of rust in those photo's I wonder what else there is lurking, as for needing "Minor recommisioning" from my experience I'd say that description is somewhat open to personal interpretation. Most parts for DS's are available from specialist suppliers plus there are a number of DS speclists around the country to carry out work if you're not confident doing it yourself.

DS's are great cars and drive like nothing else on earth making them a unique experience but I always say to anyone thinking of buying one is be very careful and be prepared to dig very deeply into your pockets to avoid turning a dream into a nightmare.
