...not.
I'm an expat Austrian calling England home and I have been an avid car nut for as long as I can remember.
I grew up around French cars. My grandparents had a Simca Chambord and an Aronde, both were later replaced with a 1501 Special Break.
An aunt of mine had a Renault Caravelle. My parents had a 2CV in 1961 and when I was a toddler, it got replaced with a Renault 16. In fact, my father bought the second Renault 16 ever to be sold in Germany (were we used to live back then), the first one went to the German writer Heinrich Böll. He then had a succession of R16s, the last one a TX which turned out to be my first car after he upgraded to an R30TX, because R16s were no longer made. My mother had a succession of Renault 4Ls, usually a regular one and about three or four fourgonettes for her business. She also had a succession of two Citroen H vans for that. Once they were empty nesters, the 30TX was replaced with a Fuego, which they still have after 30 odd years.
I restored several Citroen Traction Avants, among them one 15/6. Daily drivers included the above mentioned 16TX, I also had a few 4Ls, a Citroen GS, two Citroen CX Breaks, one of them bought new, a Peugeot 404, a 504, a 604, a 204 Break, three 405 GTXes, of which I currently still have one, a Break, and my latest acquisition is a BX 19 TXD Break.
I could warm up to a Peugeot 203 Break, which would be tax and MOT exempt in England nowadays, however, my French dream car would be a Facel Vega Excellence...

I know how you feel. I should have kept my last 'trelle, a 1969 pastel green one in mint condition! Would be tax exempt and everything now.
But alas.
I'll get me another one from France one of these days.
