Not for the first time ...

First time on this forum but no stranger to French vehicles. Started with a Citroen Dyane (engine seized) and an ID19 Safari (stolen) in the early seventies and progressed to a CX. Since then have had more CXes, another Dyane, Renault Lagunas and a couple of XMs. Briefly experienced a Diesel AX and some Peugeot 305s.

Sanity? prevailed and I have been running Land Rover Discoverys recently but my latest has decided to be a pain on the fuelling side so I bought a T plate Laguna off eBay for £375.

I was watching a 1993 2.1 TD XM estate but forgot about it in the excitement of winning and collecting the Laguna. My phone alert went and I parked in a layby to check the bidding. Put a very late bid in and got the message that I had been outbid. Only when I logged on to my laptop on the evening of the following day did I get a message from eBay saying I had won ...

Expect lots of posts from me asking about the somewhat bizarre clutch problem this car has

Nice one! Bet you're using the latest updated version of the eBay app on
your iPhone as the reviews were appalling for it so I didn't update - seemingly
everyone else is bidding and 'losing' the bid so eBay had better get their act
together or winning bidders will take their money elsewhere and end up being
the successful bidders for several potentially expensive items...

I'd suggest the iffy clutch sounds like the gear selector rods have popped
off as the description seemed to suggest selection of the actual gear was the
failure not the clutch travel.

Happy Xm'ing. Check out www.club-xm.co.uk or www.club-xm.com

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Andrew,

Yep, iPhone eBay app plus appalling Orange coverage both locally and elsewhere - lose signal on such minor roads as the A3, M25 and M4.

And you must have been one of the many watchers on the car itself, new clutch cable wrongly installed is one option, will find out more when I make the journey to pick up the car ...

Welcome to the forum, if I'm thinking correctly a Daimler Ferret is an armoured vehicle but what are your other two car's/vehicle's?

1957 FBW AX40
1959 SUMB MH600

Hi Mr. G,

a 220 character limit on signatures doesn't allow me to list all the motors in my collection but the ones below can be seen at

SUMB (Simca Unic Marmon Bocquet) -

Daimler Ferret, Car, Reconnaissance and Liason 4x4 -

Both on the site I am developing for my local (and successful) military vehicle club

FBW - a Swiss manufacturer who produced a total of just8000 trucks and buses in over 70 years. AX40, around 100 built as general purpose 4x4 military truck or radio van -

A site that I started but never got up to speed - maybe when I get time ...

Hi Jim - yes, great fun when they work but this cold weather seems to be killing vehicle batteries at an alarming rate :(
