A Renault 4 van, thats a real rare sight in the UK now. I saw one about 6 months ago, UK RHD, quite a late model. We used to have a 72 R4 hatch until a couple of years ago, fantastic little car.

Thats a real interesting line up you have there. How does the T3 fair with a TD engine? Ive never heard of that being done before 8-)

:D I've been fitting PSA engines into the rear engined VW's for nearly twenty years , how does a D Turbo engine fair

VW fitted a 1.6D then later a 1.6TD  so maybe were looking at another 20bhp and masses of torque which is helped by a heavier flywheel , going through the gears the turbo is still in and no lag so pushes along really well , I used to carry a strait bar in case pals broke down when visiting santa-pod and on a couple of occasions had to pull friends back , my camper loaded up as well as there's and still capable of sitting at 80mph , main thing to watch out for is when the turbo kicks in in third gear on long bends there's no getting it back once the rear end breaks free , 2nd gear more controllable as can come out of damp roundabouts sideways -those were the days :)
I've just fitted an old 205td engine into a high top camper a few weeks ago - the chap went up the lakes with a few pals and he had to pull over a few times for his mates to catch up in their petrol campers ,

here's the 205td with adaptor
