Would you believe it! The red activa on autotrader has had its advert changed now, it no longer has leather seats, heated seats or headlight washers. I thought not

My dad suggested going to view this activa if I didn't get the blue one from Savoy Garage, I didn't want to because when I sent him a text asking if he had it he said 'yes plz cal for further info'.. Sounded very half arsed if you ask me so I'm glad I didn't see it.

It was only just down the road from Savoy Garage too.

Probably best avoided unless it is staggeringly cheap.

Yes, there are far too many dodgy dealers around for my liking. I really hate buying cars, you never really know what your getting or who you will be dealing with. I prefer buying private, from a well known garage/specialists or buying a car from someone i know.

As alluded to elsewhere on the forum, the silver one is back for sale at Savoy Garage near Burnley. They had the car on sale just over a year ago. It was only £1295 then, so don't pay £1395 now!

I think the owner of the garage posts on here.

I had been checking on the website for that car, as a few days ago it stated that it would be coming in but with a suspected leaking ram. Obviously its not leaking as thats not mentioned now.

I remember the pictures from before, they are the same. Looks a tidy car though. Nice to see he has a few Activas passing through for sale. Some fetching looked Xms are often on there too.

It does say £1300 for the blue one which dommo bought, though he paid a lot less than that i think.

Wasn't the ebay auction for the blue s2 Dommo bought starting at £300?
Worth checking out this latest silver car if you're after one.

Also attached are the details and piccies of the Autotrader car mantioned

Least we all know where N995 PRP is at the moment for the benefit of
the 'roll call' here on the forum - anyone fancy taking this on as it's price
isn't bad and I'm sure open for negotiation and it has been this price
for a few weeks now...

Yeah, the blue one was listed on ebay by the garage, for a very good price.

The red one looks nice, shame there are not more pictures.

Im going to have to force myself to stop looking at them, when the red one firts appeared it was listed with the options winter pack and leather, not sure how they came about listing that, but that would have been very tempting. Not that it isnt anyway. Though if i buy one now ill be forced to live in it, as im getting nagged about how we need to have less not more :?

Reasonable amount of MOT left, lovely colour and a reasonable price, im sure it will sell.

Chris,

You've been teetering on buying a Xantia for a while (and mysteriously keep buying C5's, but anyhow)
why not take the plunge with this red one for 450quid cash and get an
absolutely fabulous bargain for one of the rarest modern Citroens before they
all disappear!! It's even 'your colour'!

Or maybe you're waiting for a glut on the market in the unlikely event
that I get bored and sell up all of mine?

Id love one, you know that, i do wonder if i should have bought one instead of this C5. C5s are ok, they do the daily job, though im sure an activa would be up to daily duties just with a few more shell stops! Im unsure if ive done the right thing getting another C5, but there is no limit on how many times you change your car, right!

Really thinking now that i should have got a Xantia of any engine instead (which was my original plan anyway), simplicity, when compared to the host of computers and multilex units on the C5. I wouldnt mind repairing things so often if i really loved the car, i like the C5 but its not a love of mine, it just does a job. Now it appears it might be leaking something, cant work out what, if or where from yet mind. The C5 is taking some keeping up with, fix one thing and its something else.

Ive been thinking about that red Activa for a few weeks really, its just not possible at the moment.

One of yours would be nice Andrew, though i understand why you dont sell them. Id keep every car if i could. Usually there is always one activa for sale or which needs saving anyway, so surely someone wanting one is better to get that one which needs a home rather than one of yours which have a home.

I can honestly tell you that you'd love an Activa Chris. I don't use mine all that much because I really want to keep it a long time and preserve it so the V6, being a bit dog-eared and a lazy old thing, does the daily grind.

I took mine out to the shops this afternoon. Just to give it a run. The shops are six miles away. The total journey this afternoon to those shops and back was 60 miles

The drive was a delight and shows how much fun and pure enjoyment they are. You will do ten times the distance just for the sheer joy of it...

Agreed Andrew?

I agree, but £74 for a tank of petrol was a bit of a shock when I filled Juliet right up!

Yep, turn those thumbscrews Jim!!

I've actually found one Activa that seems more miserly on fuel too so clearly
some of it's full specialist (rather than dealer) servicing in the past sits well
with it even where it's showing 150k miles. Begs the question mind, just what
the hell's wrong with my black car as it has an Oliver Reed thirst even with it's
lower miles. I've been using this latest one permanently the past month and
been very pleased with it although it's now thrown a strop and the alternator
has stopped charging.

Was ever the case with clingy Citroens!

Did you get lost

An Activa would make a very nice second car, as my daily driving duties are about 60 miles of motorways and then 30-40 minutes of crawiling traffic in and out of the city centre, so it doesnt really warrant an Activa.

I have driven one once, about 3 years ago when my dad had one, but i didnt drive it far. I did really like it and it was fully working, i wish we had not traded it in for a Xm which turned out to be awful. Thats the biggest regret of our car history, selling that, it was a minter but its not taxed now when i check on the dlva site. Poor thing.

Once we get some cars sorted and sold ill keep an eye out for one, but i cant until a few have gone. Might actually keep the 2.1TD for a while now, though the 2.0 SX we plan to sell on and two/three non citroens. So then ill have loads of room. Should be advertising them in the next week or two.

Though i might also swap the C5 for a diesel Xantia, which is another car i really want.
