Ive not driven a 1.9TD car so i cant compare it, though it does have 20bhp less so im assuming thats going to be noticeable.

The 2.1TD is a bit of a lazy engine, in that it only really gets into its stride at around 2000rpm, though it pulls well before 2K this is when its performing at its best. I like it, great engine, ive not properly checked the MPG on the Xm 2.1, but its pretty good, not far off a HDI i wouldnt have thought.

Am i right in thinking that things can be done to the 2.1TD to make them better, such as blocking off the EGR gives a bit more performance and better economy?

Chris.

That sounds like my 1.9. With it being from 1999 it was just before they fitted the HDi engine to the 306, so it's got the Garrett GT15 turbo which was fitted to the HDi's, and I've fitted a Bosch pump, which means it's got a decent pull from around 1800rpm right up to about 4.5k where the governor kicks in, it will rev up to 5200 but there's no power there so I never do it.

This one's interesting. LPG conversion.

Should help make it more affordable to run.

Interesting. I hope the LPG conversion has been done properly. MK2 engines have plastic inlet manifolds and these are not recommended for LPG. Ideally an alloy one from a MK1 is needed to do the job properly.

Strange wheels on it. What are they?

I think they're steel with plastic trims, chucked the original alloy ones lacking a centre hole away?

A multi point LPG system should be OK on a plastic manifold Jim, in theory with a multi point there is no way it can cause a backfire, its only the single points which are a danger in this area.

I like the silver one, that looks a nice car, and taxed and MOT'd too, unusual for an Ebay Activa!

The blue one looks quite good too, though looks like a basic with steels and C4 wheel trims. I imagine that might be whats hapened Richard, Activa alloys can get tatty looking too cant they.

Will the silver one have air con? I would think it should as its an R reg and no sunroof model, but i cant make out the buttons, i thought the AC button was in the blank nearest the steering wheel?

Hmm, i wonder how much it will go for?

Yes the silver one has air con as the heater slider has temperature numbers, the A/C button was where you describe up until about 96 after which I was moved to the panel above the radio.

You getting tempted?

Ah right, i had thought about the temp slider. Thanks

Id love one, that looks nice too, few scrubs etc but thats to be expected. Ill keep my eye on it. Though we have way too many cars at the moment, ive no idea where id park the 11th one! The C15 is in a neighbours garage and the rest are here, so its a big tight at the moment.

Im sure ive just seen an Activa this morning on my way to tescos. A red T reg, looked tidy but was very very bouncy. Accelerated very briskly away from the lights though. Didnt catch the badge so it might not have been an activa, but it had activa wheels and rear spoiler.

They do have a centre hole though on the activa's Dickie :)

the inlet manifold looks Plastic to me or thye have painted it black....

The LPG conversion is very, erm squashed in there... I wouldn't want it like that without a higher res/larger engine bay pic as the vapouriser is right next to the ecu which isn't a bad location. The best way they should take the coolant take off is the way they have done it but it could have been made much neater IMO and im not sure what the cream coloured bottle is meant to be doing there tie wrapped onto the intercooler pipework...

It does not have headlight washers either going by the picture. I wonder if it actually has got leather interior with heated seats.

Looks quite nice though, not a bad price either i wouldnt say. Maybe in a few months when we have our car numbers down ill be able to get one, really couldnt fit another car in at the moment, not even a Smart car, and there are a couple of Activas which take my interest at the moment.

The silver one on ebay is ending tonight.
