Knocked my orange juice over the keyboard and killed it. :(

Unplug the keyboard, leave it under warm running water for twenty minutes until the water coming out is clean, shake it dry (carefully!), and then leave it in an airing cupboard for at least 24 hours to dry out.

Sweet drinks can be bad for keyboards, so warm water helps to dissolve the sugary mess.

I dismantled it and washed it out. Device manager says it's working but it's lost a few keys
Ordered a new one, managing with the onscreen keyboard for now.

A cool wash in the dishwasher allegedly is good for them.
I do mine in the shower periodically, then blast it with the wet vac with the hose on the exhaust side, works a treat :)

I remember a Giles cartoon, where there are two housewives chatting over the garden fence (both women are solidly built). In the background (over a kitchen sink) is a slight, hen pecked husband, doing the washing up. One housewife is saying "My dishwasher won't break down; he wouldn't bloody dare!".

We had a commercial dishwasher in the Wine bar in London I used to run many moons ago - essential - but for home, never. My OCD wouldn't cope with leaving dirty dishes in a dishwasher waiting for enough to pile up to do a cycle. Just knowing it was full of dirty dishes festering in there would be too much. I would have to take them out and do them by hand - which kind of defeats the purpose of having one :rofl2:

Besides, seeing all the grease and crud that piles up in those things when they need cleaning and unblocking is another Huey job. Oh well, time to go find the Marigolds. :vomit3:

I've had to clean a lot of disgusterous dishwashers when I worked maintenance for student accommodation and presumed that it was normal for them.
I took one from work that was being thrown out - nothing wrong with it.
Cleaned it thoroughly when I got it home although there was hardly any need, then ran a cleaning cycle with a dedicated dishwasher cleaner in it.
In the four years I've had it, I have taken it to bits a few times and hardly ever found anything to remove from the filters.
It isn't used often as there are only two of us here most of the time, although my son does like to collect lots of plates, bowls, cups & glasses in his room, enough for a load sometimes.
Son is just moving to his own house so dishwasher will be pretty much redundant henceforth.

Never understood purpose/attraction of dishwashers: slow, inefficient (no, make that ineffectual!), HUGELY wasteful of water, electricity & precious space.

If, despite all that anyone would like mine, which must be eminently collectible now, about 20 years old, only used twice (I think) let me know.

Had to drive to Teesside on Saturday, set the satnav to go to Sarah's - don't need it, just a test.
First part reasonable enough - it usually directs me to the A1 south, only half a mile away but would have me head for the A19, which I use anyway.
But on approach to the A19 it wanted me to go north.

Sarah used to live in Tyne Dock (South Shields) but that was 17 years ago and the satnav is only about ten and has been with me for about six, prior to that it lived in the Cambridge area.
Psychic time-warp satnav.

But she moved 7 years before the satnav was made and I would never have put that address in anyway as it was local, only ten minutes away.
Her new one is, between Stockton and Darlington as I can never remember the way if I use the A1.

SatNavs are strange, they have obsessions with particular roads &/or way points and are inconsistent when determining the best route between A & B on different occasions.

b-t-w, has anyone else fallen foul of TomTom's glitch (that they gave a silly name) which meant that, as of 6 April (I think) they lost certain functions, e.g. e-t-a calculation - or, more importantly, how to unscramble their workround?

I paid £25 for my TomTom in an auction at AMS about ten years ago, it's worked fine even in the USA on my trips over there, I keep getting invites to 'upgrade' but never have and doubt I need it here any more.

I got the warnings from them about the roll over and possible loss of some functions but haven't tried it.
