Re: Back to black
yes, this stuff really DOES work, for all Plastics Inside & Out (don't be confused by the name) and stays put really quite well including on exterior Bump Strips, Bumpers etc....
...mine's an older car, so its got a fair bit of black plastic that I valet maybe twice a year, so's it looks black rather than grey.
I've bought two bottles of this stuff in about 12 years, this one's 1/4 full and it'll be replaced when it runs out. I'm a tight-wad, but Autoglym stuff is one of those (increasingly numerous) 'exceptions' where I won't buy cheap.
Warm it in a jug of hot water if you're using it on a cold day and apply sparingly with Kitchen Roll; have at least half a dozen sheets to hand as it'll pick up lots of Dirt. Also, do the cleanest of the inside bits first.

I always thought the trick was a hot air gun - never felt that lucky - or brave, personally.
Still got some of the wonderful Race Glaze stuff, remember their products, all amazing colours & smelt good enough to eat: extraordinary? Got taken over by a company that dropped that product - & disappeared.

Re: Back to black
The ah bumper gel is Goood! Likewise I've used it for years, the old 309gti had big plastic bumpers and trims and the rubber spoiler, this stuff was without question the best option, The newer version is clear and has a slightly different fragrance to the old green snot version, but just as good! I put mine on with a cotton type cloth and buff off a little later,
For reference, the hot air gun Does work, we used to use it a lot in the trade during the 90s and early 00's on Astra's as the bumpers on them faded quicker than the paint! Needed to be a hot air gun on a medium heat slowly waved across the plastic from a couple of inches away, time consuming but worth it,

Jeez, you MUST have known something before you splashed out £20 for 15ml - & I thought AutoGlym stiff was dear.

Re: Back to black
Now, can't remember who iit was but just remembered the suggestion of using veg oil on the plastics, i did use it on the xantia, did work well and it was a good use of the leftover dribbles in the bottom of the containers when fueling up!

Re: Back to black
I was told to try baby oil on bumper, only tried it once before selling the XM and it did work.

Re: Back to black
I used to do my dash, make it nice and shiny and new like, same for all the inner plastics, then a series of low sun days and the inability to see out of the car due to reflections made me rethink my shinyness stratagy!

Re: Back to black
Now you mention it, I do recall the idea of using veggie oil.
As for dash tops & the like, isn't there a satin dressing for that very purpose/reason?

Re: Back to black
I thought i would pop this here, the little rollerskate got a clean last week and gave the trims a once over, passenger mirror base seems to fade significantly more than the drivers, so i thought i'd take a quick snap whilst using my AG bumper trim gel
