I don’t buy the ‘green’ aspect to a PHEV at all.. but as a proposition, it seems a good’un.
Don't forget we've got regenerative braking on all the PSA Stop Start vehicles already - but it's only used to recharge the capacitor for the engine restarting. No good for 'The Sweeney' or a bank robber though

Don't get me started on stop-start  , now that is a complete waste of time.

I don't think bank robbers have yet seen the benefits of a silent getaway vehicle :-D

All S&S types or just the ones with a reversible alternator?

Well certainly all the models I've seen. PSA jointly pioneered it in with with Valeo and was first fitted to the petrol C3 petrol back in 2004 - but more common in e-HDi forms now. Reversible alternator performing the starting, so no starter motor on that particular model.

Yes, that's my point. Does the supercapacitor also get charged on the overrun by a non-reversible alternator on cars such as our 308?

I'm afraid it gets a bit muddy here as to the different technologies incorporated. For example on the C5 X7 e-HDi Stop Start the battery diagrams show the following, compared with a 308 model the same as yours:
Paul X7 Capacitor.PNG
Paul 308 Capacitor.PNG
X7 Battery showing Ultracapacitor (1) and Converter Unit ECU (3)On the 308 1.6 120 Item (1) is a referred to as a 'Voltage Maintaining Device', but no sign of the larger capacitor here.
So whether different technologies are involved I'm not sure - I know that the Hybrids do specify regenerative braking - but I can't find reference to it specifically on the 308, which is not to say it doesn't have some form of it.
