Re: What do you know about Jersey?
Jersey is an amazing Island.
The maximum speed on the island is 40 mph yet it is full of supercars.
House prices make London's house prices look like loose change.
You cant buy a house on Jersey unless you have lived there for 10 years, there are a few exceptions like being super rich & buying your way in.
Jersey registered cars don't need an MOT (although I think that may be changing soon)
Hire car's on Jersey must display 'H' plates (how good would than be here)?

Good stuff keep it coming, who knows there may just be one french car enthusiast from Jersey who may be tempted into joining in and sharing some interesting snippets about Jersey, before being encouraged into taking a selfie, in front of the AA Box at Trinity

Re: What do you know about Jersey?
When there were only 1/2-dozen Aston dealerships in GB, 2 were on Jersey.
Never mind buying a house, I think they have similar rules about residency - but an exception is if you are, or do, something useful to the island. I suspect also that, like Guernsey, if you're a native & stay away too long, you lose your status.

Re: What do you know about Jersey?
Well according to Coast this morning, its a mecca for those who like caves and coves, and in Victorian times Devil's Hole was quite an attraction for the explorer tourist coming to Jersey on the many steamships. An elaborate zigzag path was created from the cliff top down to the cave with ladders in the steeper sections.

Unless there have been a lot of changes there is something funny going on here!!:NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑12 Oct 2018, 11:02 Jersey's finest, the AA Box at the junction of Rue de la Presbytere and Rue des Picots, at Trinity

Street view was 9 years ago Mick....Not sure if it is the equivalent of a listed building in Jersey. Send your mate a couple of bottles of old engine oil to investigate!mickthemaverick wrote: ↑24 Oct 2019, 22:19

Re: What do you know about Jersey?
In 2013 it was part of Jersey's listing of historic buildings, and given the top of the four available grades.
Regards Neilhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-21196262
Once reviewed the properties were given one of four grades, with one being the most exceptional or important, which replaces a system under which they were listed as "buildings of local interest" or "sites of special interest".
Eskdale, a mid-19th Century house in St Peter and the former Market Tea Rooms, a shop from about 1820, in Market Street, St Helier were removed due to "the loss or erosion of their historic character".
While the AA call box in Trinity has been given the top of the four available grades as there are no more than 30 left in the UK. (edit we know there are only a further 18 in their original roadside locations in GB)
