Please don't ever drive in London. Your horn would wear out and your head would explode :D

I see nothing on here I would beep for and very little I wouldn't consider "normal" for here in the South East. I wouldn't do most of it myself but it's definitely the norm.

Same here Mickey you just learn to go with the flow. Leave room for the nutters and let them get on with it.

I did beep at a silly woman who flew through red light and into my lane without looking or signalling, she came very close to being wiped out but wasn't best pleased at being beeped at.

I've got my Rexing V1P Dash Cam daytime Vid on it's way :-D - ... But somehow it's got to 6 Gb in size and as we won't be getting our FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) link for another few months (only 2 years late, thanks BT  ) and can't get landline broadband, it may take a year to upload. Time to tap into the GCHQ dome on top of the hill me thinks.

Looking at the dashcams I think I'm going for the Next base 312. For the money it looks excellent.

At the moment BP are doing a dash cam for £25 (with memory cards at £8, but I cannot remember the capacity), while next Thursday Aldi have a dash cam (with, amongst other things, a 32GB memory card). I cannot make any comment on the quality of these, as I have no experience of them.

Have to agree there - most of that (excepting the fox !) was a daily occurence on my commute up the A3, along the Hog's Back, and up the A331 to the M3. I ended up going via the back roads and country lanes in the end, took all of 5 minutes longer, but going the slower way meant there were considerably less tw@s on the road :)

I have a NextBase 112 from Halfords and it's perfectly adequate for my needs.

Something to bear in mind with dash cams is that some of the more expensive ones have rechargeable batteries with the intention that you can take them out of the car and take photo's after a prang whereas cheaper ones often have a capacitor which doesn't allow this.

What might appear on face value to be a good idea is in my opinion rather pointless as most people now have a mobile phone with a camera to do that plus as the batteries used in these cameras are very unreliable the bigger problem is that when the battery refuses to hold a charge the camera shuts down as soon as the power is cut off so should you have a prang then the camera doesn't record the last file to the memory card,,

I have a Nextbase 402g in my car which needed a replacement battery within 6 months (my mate has the same issue with his one), the Transcend in my wifes' car has a capacitor so won't suffer this problem and was a fair bit cheaper. As far as picture quality is concerned there is in reality nothing between them.

Batteries can catch fire or fail in a windscreen/sun/heat......capacitors are better from that point of view and can be wired to a rechargeable battery pack placed in a cooler spot for "parking" record mode. Who does not have a smart phone with a camera theses days ?

The Rexing is intended to be connected all the time and has only a very small battery capacity for operating a few minutes after ingnition off, probably for the very reason Alasdair says.
