Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what the point of the curved sides are, though the alarm clock that can be viewed from the side is handy I suppose. I've got a screen protector and a decent cheapo case for mine!

Just don't start working in the building trade and I'm sure yours will fare better than theirs.

I've only needed recovery twice in my life since I started motoring in 1954 so the cost of breakdown saved would buy me a new car or two. :-D
Likewise the gas boiler cover being offered by the likes of British Gas, if you saved the premiums in a bank account instead you could buy a new boiler every seven to nine years, I note also that the crafty sods have an 'excess' charge of £60 per call out in their small print..
If you can still do that then you're very fortunate & I am very impressed.

As cars become increasingly difficult to diagnose, much less fix & yet we take them further & further away from home, or indeed any support at all. I won't forget in a hurry, replacing the pads on the last Cherokee in a windswept harbourside car park in Stornaway, with only a few basic tools. But when the same thing dumped all its transmission fluid at the lights controlling a narrow bridge between Dart Bridge & Totnes I had little choice but to call GreenFlag. Then there was the time I had 2 punctures in a short space of time, early in the morning somewhere between the Scottish border & the 1st town in England, nursing a 2CV down from Northampton to replace the clutch - which finally failed as I left the M25, the XJ40 that ran a diff output bearing on the Isle of Lewis, when the same car expired in Budapest in torrential rain, it took the local Jaguar specialist a couple of hours to find you could wring the air filter element out like a sponge, the Cadillac befell a similar fate having negotiated one flooded N. Devon lane too many, another time the water pump belt idler seized on the Autobahn (again in appalling weather), my 2CV once ended up by the side of the Autobahn with a flat tyre, a collapsed jack, a flat battery & a suspect alternator (but while waiting for the recovery a German in a 2CV van stopped, helped me change the wheel, fitted his spare alternator & jump started the car). Twice the Caddy has succumbed to parasitic battery drain, once in a hotel car park in Essen, once in a ferry queue in Dublin (when it wouldn't respond to a jump start). It's at times like that that make you grateful for the security of having a recovery service. Those ocassions are vastly outnumbered by the times I have been able, at least, to limp home- or to my destination, but now there are things like NSS's, CPS's & any number of modules & sensors which, nowadays, can leave you stranded, with no prospect of a roadside repair.

I've had a mobile for must be about 2 years now - & I think I'm on my 4th now. My analogue one did everything I wanted - but coverage wasn't good, then I've lost one, one just wore out (well, in truth, it'd been dropped once too often), the present one's going the same way (&, in truth, I do take advantage of several non-phone functions: alarm clock, callendar, calculator, e.g.) but is good for another 5 years, or so, I would hope - & I already have its successor waiting in the wings. (just the same really, so it'll be a nice easy transition.

Correction: that's 25, not 2, years! (seems the "5" on this keyboard's coming out in sympathy with the "M")
