Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Some exellent information/images in your post James.....but should I have a look at and see if you tube or daily motion have the Hammond, May and Clarkson spitfire "experience" episode season 11 episode 6 "Showdown: The British (Top Gear) vs. The Germans". The studio image in your link of Clarkson in his "period" flying jacket is enough to put anyone off their breakfast!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
On the "Spitfire" theme another Top Gear item in 2012 featured Clarkson driving a Bentley with a Spitfire engine. Subsequently it was up for sale as "thevintagenews.com" reports here.
"This Bentley was built in Devon by a man called Bob"
Scroll past the bit on the Bentley and there are some excellent pictures on the next story down of Niagara Falls without the water!

Regards NeilIt was about 47 years ago that Niagara Falls went completely dry, leaving the cliff barren. Photos that captured the empty cliff have recently been released to the public. In June of 1969, United States engineers had diverted the flow of the Niagara River away from the American side for a few months. The engineers’ plan was to remove a majority of the loose rocks at the base of the waterfall.

50 years ago today Ian MacMillan took six photographs, one of which became iconic.
What was it?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Hadn't realised it was listed. I've just checked on the Historic England website https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/h ... /offences/ to make sure I wouldn't be causing an offence if I drove over it

Yes the cover of Abbey Road...have you noticed the numberplate on the police van at the right hand side....thought not. Exhibit A
Think we can all agree its SYO 724F, which is also the Numberplate of the "Rolls Royce in the Pool" on the cover of the album "Be Here Now" by Oasis. Exhibit B

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Well today I have broken through the 8000 post barrier............or so I thought
My counter says 8001 (well 8002 now) but a search on my username only produces 7983, 17 short of the CitroJim Brown Belt mark of 8,000.
Maybe I will have to put my class 20 Locomotive celebratory picture on hold until my counter reaches 8,018 posts?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Wonder if the discrepancy is because any 'For Sale & Wanted' posts get deleted after a while ?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Could be I may have made the odd comment in that section. I know of were some definite "losses" of actual posts round about May 26th, due to a restore, but that would have taken my "counter" back too.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I doubt that but more likely to be double posts that Neil has 'deleted' but in fact, like many deleted posts, are only hidden until 'hard deleted'
Posts in For Sale and wanted are completely purged 90 days after the last post is made in that thread.
