Didn't stop off at Boulogne, skirted around it on the way back, we went, amongst others, to Mont Sainte Michel (stunning tourist trap), Fougeres (fantastic, quiet, medieval town), Nantes (where my partner had her phone stolen on the tram from the baby's buggy :x ) and finally Versailles and Paris.

Did Consider Abbeville on the way back up but decided we didn't have time, hopefully will be heading back to the continent later in the summer assuming nothing else breaks in the mean time! :rofl2:

Slipped up yesterday, Went to Chepstow for dinner, while my lady passenger popped into a shop I sat on a bench in the high street and a silver Lamborghini drifted by...……...my camera was under the seat in my car. :(

I wonder how many forum members are heading towards the railway lines along a route from Paddington via Bicester, Oxford and Reading to Victoria? The Flying Scotsman is running again today!

For Keynesians its stopping at Milton Keynes on its way to Preston/Carnforth on June 18th.
Flying Scotsman Brief Encounter - London Victoria to Preston or Carnforth
Monday 18 June

Join us as this magnificent engine follows the West Coast mainline, stopping at Milton Keynes before continuing on to Preston. From Preston we return on a modern Virgin service in standard class to Milton Keynes and London Euston. Alternative take a one way trip and continue with Flying Scotsman to the famous station at Carnforth the filming location for the romantic classic, Brief Encounter.
Yes its going through a canny bit of the UK so I would hope that at least one of us has our box brownie out to post something on POTD.

Well, I got a couple of shots. Unfortunately I did not get a great spot, but I forgot how much trees can grow by!;

The second pic is great James. You have the empty Gasometer (got me curious is it a working one or is there just the outer framework left) you have the evidence shot---60103 perfectly captured if you look hard enough, and obviously a fleeting moment and a small window of opportunity to capture it, and then there's the white van turning up just at the wrong time.

Framework, as that was an old gasholder (there were a coupe of more modern ones that did not required the supports) and (because of the juxtaposition) the modern and working overhead electrics with the historic (and likewise working) steam locomotive!

I haven't yet watched it, but my Mum (who was with me) took video of her going past.

Dont know if 60103 traversed the routes of the "Govia Thameslink Railway" (not entirely sure which bits the "Franchise" covers) but would have been a reasonable shot to juxtapose the Flying Scotsman with a Thameslink Train or a platform of disgruntled commuters!

Had a little delve into wiki to investigate what on earth the "Govia" bit was, and found out that the whole concoction is a joint venture comprising the Go-Ahead Group(65%) and Keolis (35%) loosely described as the largest Private Sector Transport group in France.

Keolis in turn are owned 70% by SNCF and 30% by the Quebec Deposit and Investment Fund. Not sure where the "private" bit comes in :-D

Haven't seen a full timetable for the June 18th run of the Flying Scotsman but the departure time from Milton Keynes Station is 10.35 on June 18th 2018, and departure time from Rugby 11.25. Arrives Preston 15.30 Carnforth 16.55.

I hope you enjoyed the Arc Factory as much as I did Neil, I didn't buy anything but I was given an Ashtray I think at the end of the tour; its long gone.

Volvo a Classic? who knows, but defo interesting. These old school 'proper' Volvo's are certainly a rare sight now.

Rather belated reply, been away a couple of days (I tried mobile internet, didn't like it. far prefer my PC)

NB: not sure if your Scotsman pic was taken at Loverock Road James, but cor its changed a bit down there hasn't it! Travelled along it for first time in a decade or more recently.
