Well, this is a bit of a stretch. This is the Queen Elizabeth II Aircraft Carrier. It has a displacement of 65,000 tons (64,000 long tons and 72,000 short tons)

Three cheers for H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth II all 72,000 short tons of her!

Not sure if its still there but it was in Rosyth Dockyard alongside The Prince of Wales, for aircraft carrier enthusiasts!

Well I don't know myself and my googling of Sierra Nevada/Barcelona dams hasn't produced the right image yet. As an incidental thing, I did come across some rather nice pools/waterfalls/rivers in the vicinity of Malaga as but can't remember exactly what the site was. It had other spanish gems of a similar nature too.

They could conceivably have thrown in another location in the Ad other than Barcelona..which I wouldn't have got at all, or the Sierra Nevada mountains. I rarely give up on these things, they tend to niggle away so I'm not beat yet! :-D

I dont think it's this one but it has some features which are similar. 4 large overflow "ports" in the middle....
a "round double curvature" construction. That little "lay-by" isnt there though.

I'll start you off emerging through the tunnel onto the dam with this streetview link, have a "virtual drive" over it see what you think

And on the car above another one of those odd registrations which can be photographically 'flipped' to provide LHD/RHD footage without needing to re-plate.

Just seen your post Chris. What they need as an antidote is an old triumph motorbike. That would soon put a decent black oil slick on the floor.
Came across this in my meanderings this morning....

I like this, its from my childhood stomping ground in North West Durham, probably heading for Jakey Robsons at Consett seeing as it has a load of Vauxhall/Bedfords on board.
Just one from a thread ontrucknetuk.com festooned with some lovely pictures of old austin lorries

The livery granted doesnt stand out too much in the black and white photo, so yet another gem from that trucknetuk.com thread, with the bloke who literally painted and lettered those Glendinning lorries

Anyone interested in Ships?

Todays "Ship of the Day" is Emma Mærsk seeing as she is 55396 Net Tonnage, the precise reading on my end of month milometer this very evening.

A huge container ship one of the longest (397 metres-sort of like the Empire State Building lying on its side) ploughing between Europe and the Far-east via the Suez Canal. Currently as of now, she is heading for the Spanish port of Algeciras en route.

As you may expect it does have an interesting/unusual engine

Petrol or Electric vive la différence

Red Hill filling station on the A6 Loughborough Road for SK5808
This petrol station became a Grade II listed building in 2012. It is an example of the futuristic Pegasus design created by Eliot Noyes for Mobil in the mid-1960s. The six remaining circular canopies at this filling station are thought to be the last surviving examples in the UK.
Comforting to know we are still in the Space-Age!
