The VR post boxes around here were made by Smith and Hawkes of Birmingham....turned their hands to most things as this advert from Grace's Guide reveals

Peter, Here's a quest for you should you decide to accept it of course.

An unusual postbox in Dorset, here at Barnes Cross Cottage to be precise

A very early Hexagonal Post Box (1855) still there in 2011, made by Butt and Co of Gloucester

I will try and get that one sometime, I don't often get down there - having said that I think I will be in a couple of weeks, probably forget my camera though.

POTD- 71,000 related image!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Anyone got any creative juices?

The OTCL hit the 71,000 posts mark tonight....Timmo supplied the coup de grace on the thread "Back to Black".

So while I look for my habitual locomotive...anyone else got any offerings for a 71000 POTD.

the tree guys wanted £198 to cut this tree back.
That's how I amassed all my various tools. Problem is that they take up an awful lot of space now.

You may or may not know there is a brick wall at Beamish Museum, made of bricks stamped with the yard name, from brickworks across the north east.

I discovered to day through Geograph, the story of Cowan's Brickworks, for me quite fascinating, all the links are there from this geograph image. The bricks stamped Cowan appear all over the world from Guadaloupe Oregon, Alcatraz, and Hobart, to a Sugar factory in Japan :-D

I think it forms a shelter for the Tram stop at Home Farm.

Learning what I have today, I feel a mooch around Blaydon, on a treasure hunt for those Cowan bricks is on the cards. It doesn’t take much to amuse me :-D
