The Rat look? A collection of interesting/awful Rats...

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Thanks to Addo for his contribution to the Awful/Interesting Camper vans thread identifying this as a rat camper, and previously describing a VW Camper as a "Roughie". This added to my nephew's VW Golf which he has purposely prepared in a rusty stickerised distressed manner, has led me to being more educated than I was to the phenomenon of the "Rat-look". Added to this I discover that citrojim no less embraces the concept of rat style.
citrojim wrote:I love the 'Rat Look' to bits... Hence why in the past I've owned 'Rattiva' and 'Rattiva II' 8-) My current Activa is not far off being 'Rattiva III'
What does everyone think, feel free to lob in pictures, the rat-look can go from a very mild ratting like the xantia below to pretty extreme stuff. There is even a division classified as OAP ratting, with national trust stickers picnic rugs and walking sticks contributing to "The look".

Mmmmm I wonder if I should lower the 205, strip all the paint off the bonnet, get 15" rusty steel wheels, lower it and get a tartan rug to go with the walking stick I do need lolol

They deserve hanging to within an inch of their lives daily for the rest of eternity (and then repeated an infinite number of times)! However, the only exception to this is if the DS would have been scrapped, and this was the only way to save it.

Then again probably not ratting in the purest form but you can do a lot to create an "individual" look with a vinyl wrap

There will obviously be much worse/more interesting examples than this...
