Adrain Flux Modifications to your vechicle

Post by falling-out-with-my-car »

Yesterday I decided to acquire a quote from Adrian Flux as they are advertised on the back cover of the CCC magazine.
They want me to believe that my Tow ball on my 1998 Mk2 Citroen Xantia is a modification to the Body work.
This is slightly questionable as the tow bracket bolts to the chassis, Not the body. :rofl2:
with my 9 years NCB I found Adrian Flux to be the most expensive fully comp insurer thus far being
£110 more than the cheapest.

Any Thoughts?

If it was fitted when the car was bought it's not an after market modification :)

however, Any item that is Not Standard equipment on the vehicle Is and can be by picky insurers as a Modification, LED interior lights are a Mod,
i've heard of one guy in the BX fraternity that had a claim refused due to having 185/60/14's on his std alloys instead of the 195/60/14's as fitted std.
i hav also known of people that have listed All and every mod on their policies! Just incase!!!

A workmate has a very heavily bugg - er - modified Saxo that he has disclosed every mod to the insurance company and IIRC it was Adrian Flux.

He pays less insurance than I do.

I know of someone that has a car with a non factory fitted sunroof.

Now if an insurance company want to look at the factory build sheet for vehicles that have things like this, that look like that they were made with them, as they have been fitted to look like a factory item, they could use it as a get out clause on a claim!

The thing is not everyone would be aware of what was there ex works, and could be caught out by dealers, or importers that have fitted these items to improve the specification.
