Laggy Alfa Motor

Post by addo »

A hair under 65K city miles, has hunted slightly at idle the last 10K. Now sounding "fat" under light pedalling, slightly soggy acceleration and a noted tendency to bog when pulling away unless revved hard. Like all Alfa motors it burns oil with seemingly no evidence.

I haven't plugged it into any diagnostics (yet). There are no active illuminations of the malfunction lamp.

Does a failing MAF default to rich?

More symptoms.

On a contrastingly cold day (low 20s, damp/rainy) it failed to catch three times, then stalled and only held fire with a fast idle. When it wasn't catching it was chuffing audibly through the intake (ie; seemingly more so than through the exhaust).
