Cazana lists it as a hornet. Its speedo is also broken, as each of the last 7 MOTS has shown exactly the same mileage - 32,888!!!

If you stay in the area long enough there's a silver one, a blue one and a red one.

So is it legal to have a broken odometer and the MOT man is happy to give it an MOT every year with no increase in indicated mileage ?

Can't be good for the resale value of the car though if prospective owners check the MOT history and discover that the true mileage could be absolutely anything. :rofl2:

For what it's worth if you check the mileage of my Xantia V6 (R502ODV) you'll see that the mileage figure was mis-entered at one of the MOT's causing an increase in mileage then a drop at the subsequent test...

(71,223 miles instead of presumably 51,223 miles on the 25th July 2007)

There's not really a requirement for an odo, just a speedo, and even that is pretty vague:
MOT manual wrote: Information Method of Inspection Reason for Rejection
This inspection applies to all vehicles first used
on or after 01 October 1937 other than those in
Class 3.
If the dial glass is cracked, it is not a Reason for
Rejection, providing:
• there is no possibility of misreading the
speedometer or
• there is no possibility fouling of the indicator
needle or
• the cracked glass does not create a safety
hazard.
A Tachograph is an acceptable alternative to a
speedometer providing it satisfies the requirements
of this inspection.

Inspection

1. Check that a speedometer is fitted.
2. Check the condition of the speedometer.
3. Check that the speedometer can be illuminated.

Reasons for rejection

1. Speedometer not fitted.
2. Speedometer incomplete, clearly inoperative or
the dial glass broken or missing.
3. The speedometer cannot be illuminated
I don't think the tester actually sees the previous MOTs on the system, so no idea if the odo is counting or not.

Interesting to see that the MOT site now shows where the MOT was done, so you can tell if there was any 're-test at another garage' shenanigans going on!

Whereas the legislation regarding Speedos is long winded and plentiful.

Yes indeed. The most important part of the legislation is they must not be worn by overweight men ;)
