has anyone else heard this
someone tld me a dealer had told them
when a car comes in for the antipollution service they drain the fluid tank and fill it with diesel, and the system knows no different,
its the Eloy fluid the collects the particulates and traps them in the filter in the exhaust system,
so with it just running diesel through the system the filter does not become blocked

Re: antipolution fluid
Some of that tale is true Malcolm, the Eolys tank can be refilled with diesel to fool the ECU into thinking that it's full, but IIRC the purpose of Eolys fluid is not to trap the particulates (the particulates filter does that) but to burn off the collected particulates by significantly raising the exhaust temperature when it's injected. To get this idea to work you need to either remove the particulate filter or at least drill several holes through it otherwise it'll get blocked up and the engine will go into limp home mode.
