Indeed

I was listening to a bit of R4's Question Time last evening and the piece about ATOS, the private company being used to determine eligibility for disability benefits. To me it seems very wrong for private companies to do any of this kind of work for the government as the best interests of the nation are unlikely to be paramount; the firm doing the work will be looking after their best interests in the way of profit first and foremost. Any government consultancy leading ultimately to legislation should be carried out by civil servants and specialists in their field who have no pecuniary in the subject. I was how it was always done back along.
Gregg1100 wrote: As it is now, someone can pass test in a very small car in the morning, and drive daddies Jaguar in the afternoon, or up to 3½ ton truck. NOT good
Absolutely right Greg. Totally agreed. I myself passed, many, many years ago now, my test on a 70cc machine and then went straight home and hopped on a 500cc machine...

And yes, under currrent legislation, Siany, who's just passed her test in a Pixo can now drive a tranny van. Nope. Not right at all.

Clear all browsing data/history etc. weekly as a matter of course.

Perhaps as a result of working in the advertising industry for quite a few years I am oblivious to them though.

That would be lost on Siany unfortunately...

No, she's called Pixie. She even has a nodding Pixie on the rear parcel shelf. I kid you not....

When we went to France sometime later we stayed in a cottage with an LPG cooker, guess where the gas bottle was, in the cupboard next to the cooker. The French are in the EU aren't they?

Peter
A bit like the petrol tank located on the engine bulkhead on the vintage Austin Seven we owned years ago; not uncommon in many cars before they started fittig pumps. Never a problem AFAIK.

Have you noticed that when you get an instruction leaflet for anything you buy, there are pages of this elf 'n' safety nonsense before you get to the stuff you want.

Maybe we should put all the H&S folk in jail, plus the PC ones?

Nothing wrong with proper elf n safety, it's the sudo (not a linux command Jim!) elf n safety that is the problem, where people use it to prevent legitimate activities taking place.
In the safety sheet with our iron it says "Do not iron clothes while wearing them. I have seen this happen and it isn't funny"

Sounds like good old Eu-o-phobia to me. For example here in France the 'mot' is every 2 years and they note all faults but only fail a car for dangerous stuff, brakes, tyres, lights etc.
Like all such things I am sure it is only a problem for countries that take it 100% (or more) seriously, whereas most apply a little sense and reason.

On the cookies best way to do this is, as said earlier, to delete regularly to remove the ad tracking ones.
My main concern is not being shown ads for stuff I have shown an interest in, more that in having to click to accept cookies I may be accepting more than usual. I was ok with them just appearing, like for this site to save me logging in every time. Now we have to read terms and conditions to see that it is just simple cookes we are accepting.
