Parking (not so) sensors

Post by Featch »

I was sat outside our local shop yesterday when a B"W reversed into the back of me lurching me forward a couple of feet. I suggested to the driver of said B"W that at the least a apology was in order at which point he denied he'd hit me at all, saying it was impossible because his car had parking sensors.

He even tried to point them out to me "look here they are on the bumper.......er...." munched up against my undamaged car.

I was laughing too much to be cross.

And he did not notice the bump / lurch from hitting you ? :(

Hmm. Reliance on technology (!) is one thing, blissful ignorance is quite another...

Treating it as a joke may have been a mistake.
There is a risk that BMW man noted your car number and will claim through his insurance company.
Very easy to turn things round to:
Ran into my parked car as I was doing up my seat belt ready to drive off.
When I got out to exchange details he just laughed at me as his car was not damaged.
If no independant witnesses and you not reporting an accident to your insurance co could make life very difficult to prove no blame.

No danger of that. My number was hidden by his car. He couldn't leave the scene fast enough when he realised he was half my size,

John does raise a good point though about that, I've seen it happen (I'll spare you the story)
