That's neat :-D One each OK?

If we can't get one in time we'll have the Top Gear lads knock you up an electric Xantia.

And we'll make sure it has a nice long mains lead...

"The DMC-EV's batteries take 15 hours to charge using a 110-volt power outlet and store enough energy to travel up to 100 miles" for £57,000?

I'll have the v6 and the £35,000 change anyday instead please

Its the same with the Nissan Leaf or Peugeot Ion etc, pretty restricting if your car can only do 100 (maximim) before it needs to rest for 15 hours. Not exactly the best commuter car!

Just get the much cheaper V6 DeLorean and fill it up as, when and where you like in just in couple of minutes. You can see why petrol powered cars were popular originally ... Afterall, electric cars have been around many many years, since 1890 in fact! I wonder if it will catch on

It caught on pretty big in the world of milk-floats

I still believe that electric is a dead-end for cars. 100 miles is nothing and would mean effectively the car would always be on charge whenever it was not moving.

One might just work for my 12 mile a day commute but then when you can have an HDi Xantia that only needs refilling once in a blue moon then what's the point?

Until they can get an energy storage system that rivals the energy density of petrol and diesel (still the most efficient way of storing energy) then petrol and diesel will continue to reign supreme.

Xac, the DeLorean is no good for you then. We don't have 110v mains in this country so you'd never be able to charge it

:) It did, but there are no electric floats now ... ours are all diesels around here

I guess for a milkfloat its good, as they are a low mileage vehicle and allow milkmen to sneak about without waking people up

There was talk of electric cars being integrated into the national grid. Partly due to the need to change and shut down some power stations. They would be on charge during surplus electricity supply when demand is low, and in peak times (during Corrie adverts) the cars would then use their charge to power the houses. Apparently an electric car could power a house for two days. Quite annoying if you have to be off to work the next morning if there has been a electricity low :|

Think again people, electricity is not the answer, or not yet anyway.

The sad truth is that they must be pretty desperate to try and flog them,i wouldn't think there would be much interest in the electric gimick versions, enthusiasts will want the petrol car every day of the week and the chief executive fella says most people that go on a road trip rent a car.....do they ? :? because they are soooo afraid to put up the mileage on there cars =D> American marketing at its greatest

Plenty of recharging points in MK, I'm sure a transformer could be used :D
Besides, replace the batteries with a hydrogen fuel cell and you've got the range.

But if you guys are against it, then I suppose we'd be happy with you buying us a V6 version ;)
