ECU Remapping?

Post by speederuption »

Hi all
I am a mobile ECU Remapping specialist from Leicestershire and cover the whole of The East Midlands.
Thought i would start a new topic regarding ECU remapping incase anybody on here had any questions/queries regarding remapping that i could help with? I have many years experience so any questions feel free to ask.....

OK, what French cars do you own?

More seriously, some places advertise that they do the PSA TCT 2 litre. Is this a matter of changing the chip, or can it be reprogrammed through Lexia? Is a remap likely to improve the fuel economy on a TCT? I know it does on turbodiesels, but my impression is that the TCT is only hugely wasteful off-boost. Can this be improved?

Thanks,

James

Hi James
I own a Renault Clio 1.5 DCi 65BHP now has a sports tune to 90BHP and better on fuel than standard plus a Citroen Xsara Picasso 2l HDi 90BHP with an economy tune
pushing 105BHP and 20MPG better than standard +Citroen Pluriel + Peugeot 306 convertible.
I remap 90% of all cars from 2000+ petrol cars only have a slight improvement in MPG but Diesels can improve by upto 20% more MPG on economy tuning.
You can chip or remap these vehicles and turbo engines have a good BHP increase.

many thanx

Hi
These are the guys that done mine, a dealer in london i think, it does say on my paperwork ive got from them that i am running 180bhp and 280nm @ 10psi up from 148bhp and 226nm which feels about right although i personaly have not had it rolling roaded.

The chip was replaced on mine, dont think it can be re mapped, too old, ive got another tuning chip here i bought on ebay along with the original chip they took out of the ecu on the activa.

How's the MPG Dean? Noticeably better or worse?

Superchips must be the safest option, but you pay for the privilege.

Hi James

Yes it is a fair wedge of cash im not sure i would want to part with tbh, the car has always had the chip in my ownership and running around on the island (basicaly town driving and not getting above 40 for any length of time) im getting about 26-29mpg, to put that in perspective ive just got a 2.5td mazda BT50 whhich is returning a solid 29mpg driven the same way.

I know disconnecting the horrible ecu boost controller and fitting a manual one upped the mpg from about 22-25 to what it is now though so the chip probably doesnt make much difference from stock on that front.

HI
just a note to say that ECU Remapping via the OBD2 is by far the safest way to get more power or economy . (Only use professionals).
Chip fitting entails taking the ECU cover off then unsoldering the chip then finely tuning the second chip and refitting and soldering back into the ECU then resealing and fitting to car.
Plug and play devices are the most dangerous devices out there for ECU failure.

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Many Thanks

I could be wrong but I was led to believe that the xantias are too old to be mapped via the odb2 port.

I've got a 110 HDi, what parameters do you change to achieve the extra power? also what are your costs....

Hi Chris
The protocols on the OBD2 port changed from 2000, therefore the Citroen Xantia 110 HDi can now be remapped via the OBD2 from 2000 on.
There are 2 types of Tune to choose from, either Economy or Sport, both types of tune change everything to do with the engine e.g air flow mixture, timing, fuel etc
The Sports Tune on the Citroen Xantia 110 HDi would take you from 110 BHP to 136 BHP and from 250 NM to 293 NM of Torque, For a remap on this vehicle for either economy or sports would be £295 + Travelling expenses.
Hope this helps

There aren't many Xantia 110 HDi's around that were built from 2000 onwards so how would you do a remap on one?

I thought OBD2 was mandatory on petrols from 2001 and diesels from 2004, 2001 coinciding nicely with the launch of the C5. I'd be surprised if a diesel Xantia could be remapped through the diagnostic socket without a Lexia.

I'd guess that PSA (and others) do the minimum necessary to meet the legislative requirements, preferring their bespoke solution.
