Well I've had this for a couple of months now. Had a small hiccup to start my ownership in that my alarm wouldn't shut up. It had armed itself and at that exact moment the Key Transponder module decided to die so I couldn't disarm it. This meant I couldn't drive it for a couple of weeks and eventually had to have it recovered to a Jaguar specialist.

I'm averaging about 18mpg which I don't think is too bad. Once I've bought myself a push bike for work the Jaguar will only get used at weekends mainly, just as well really because I've got a list of stuff I want to get done so I need to save. This includes the timing gear which is going to cost me about £1200 .

Absolutely loving it though. Its an armchair with a rocket strapped it. So comfortable and having 370bhp on tap means it really is quick! Handles quite nicely too, CATS adaptable suspension means it really doesn't feel as big as it is down country lanes. You can also guarantee it'll turn heads too.

Just noticed this Toby. What a cracker! The secret with these cars is to stop the silly running about town and to the shops.
On proper journeys you will get mpg you can live with. Quite right to buy one.........why deny yourself? I bet it sounds something when letting rip :-D

What is with the timing gears? How many miles on it?

It does sound nice. Cruising along its very quiet though, these have a double bulkhead, at idle you can barely tell its running. I notice a lot XJR owners over in the states have been fitting these with exhaust cut outs which bypass the rear silencers

Timing gear is chain driven and as mine is an original engine rather than a replacement steel lined engine it is likely to have plastic tensioners which were known for failing. I want to get the entire lot done though as then it should be good for another 100k. Currently has 89k.
